Laura Robards

Laura Robards is a New York based actor, director and vocalist. She comes from a long line of performer’s most notably her paternal grandfather, two time academy award winner Jason Robards Jr. As a result, she took to the stage at an early age. In recent years, Laura has performed new work by Mcarthur Genius Ishamel Reed, workshopping and originating several roles for him in shows including The Conductor, The Slave Who Loved Caviar and The Shine Challenge. Laura had a supporting role in the 2024 film Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point which premiered last summer at the Cannes film festival and was chosen by New Yorker Critic Richard Brody as the second best film of 2024. Her directorial debut, experimental V.R. short Pursuit & the Elusive, screened at film festivals in several countries and will be available to screen in the metaverse this summer. She is a principal in the upcoming Unholy Communion starring Vincent Kartheiser and Adam Bartley which will also be released in the summer of 2025. She is a proud graduate of Smith College.

Christmas Eve in Miller’s

Point

After its premier at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and a theatrical release that November, Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point (dir. Ty Taormina) is now available for streaming! It received much critical praise including New York Times Critics Pick and was rated the second best film of the year by New Yorker Film Critic Richard Brody. Check out his review in the link.

Pursuit & The Elusive 

Laura’s directorial debut Pursuit & The Elusive made its global premier at the Social World Film Festival in Vico Equense, Italy in July, 2024. It has since show at festivals on 4 different continents and won best VR film at the Barcelona Plant Film Festival.

This experimental, 360 film is a collaboration with musician and composer Lady Midnight and visual effects producer Second Sight Visuals (Brian Skalak); It can be viewed using an oculus as well as in 2D.

Unholy Communion

Unholy Communion will be released in the summer of 2025!

This detective thriller was shot in her home town of Minneapolis and stars Adam Bartley and Vincent Kartheiser. Check out an interview with lead Adam Bartley discussing the film below. It is set to be released in the summer of 2025.
