About Laura

Laura Robards is a New York–based actor, producer, director, and vocalist working across film, theater, music, and emerging media. She comes from a long line of performers, most notably her paternal grandfather, two-time Academy Award winner Jason Robards Jr., and began performing at an early age. In recent years, she has originated roles in new works by MacArthur Genius Ishmael Reed, including The Conductor, The Slave Who Loved Caviar, and The Shine Challenge.

Laura appeared in the 2024 feature film Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was named the second-best film of 2024 by The New Yorker’s Richard Brody. She has also appeared in independent features including Unholy Communion. Her directorial debut, the experimental VR short Pursuit & The Elusive, has screened internationally and will be available to experience in the metaverse this summer.

Alongside her on-camera and stage work, Laura maintains an active career as a professional voice artist and vocalist, working in commercial VoiceOver, animation and live musical performance. Her artistic perspective is informed by a background in contemporary and performance art, including experience in public programming at the Walker Art Center. She is a graduate of Smith College and a proud member of SAG-AFTRA.
